2 + 2 = 5

I witnessed an argument posed once in a dingy kitchen, as to whether it was possible to have two great things as separates but equal parts make one amazing thing as a whole. The sum of this conversation lead to a friendly Taco Tuesday evening turning into experimentation hour. When the dust settled we had invented a funnel cake battered taco that may or may not have been the most wonderful vegan unfriendly thing I've ever eaten. (It was terrible)

Sometimes two amazing things don't make a greater whole, but sometimes they sure as hell do. Two of my favorite things in the world are pretty girls and beautiful bicycles. I tripped over some photo's recently on Flickr and found that this is a situation that proves what tacos + funnel cake cannot. Enjoy!

This weekend

For those in the Central and South Florida regions this weekend. The world of Bicycles will be popping off. Make it out if you get the chance.

Also this has got me excited, if only for the tall bike.

Alma's Newest Dreamspeaker

Introducing the newest member of this humble happenstance of word and wonder. Um, yeah that sentence sound pretty lame to me too. Strike that from your memory, for now.

Anyway, I will be another contributing member, spewing gibberish from my mouth. You should pay attention to me, fully embrace me, and believe said words. I have a mustache. There's trust there, right?

In closing, we should be friends,

Antimo

British Cinema (Part 2)

The 60's - New young actors from the New Wave began to star in larger films while the James Bond series began. Director's David Lean and Basil Dearden were at the top of their game while young director Stanley Kubrick, with films like Dr. Strangelove and 2001: A Space Odyssey looked to becoming the future for cinema in the UK.

The 70's - The careers of Stanley Kubrick and Ken Russell began taking off with films like A Clockwork Orange and The Devils.

The 80's - British productions dropped more than 50% in 1980, but brought back by Companies like Channel 4, and Handmade Films. With producers such as David Puttnam and George Harrison productions like Chariots of Fire and Withnail & I were given international distribution.

The 90's - Like in the US independent films grew more popular. With the help of Film on Four (FilmFour) directors Danny Boyle and Guy Richie were able to make films like Trainspotting and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. The 90's was also a time for Anthony Minghella who won two Oscars at the 69th Academy Awards for his film The English Patient.

The 2000's - Danny Boyle continues in his success with films; 28 Days Later and Sunshine, while the world falls for British actors like Clive Owen and Jude Law. In this decade several American vetrens like Woody Allen and Mike Nichols decided to try their hand in making films in the UK with their films Match Point and Closer.

With many production companies sprouting up and moving overseas it will be interesting to see what the next century holds for British Cinema.

Somebody Loves You.

British Cinema (Part 1)

When discussing cinema many forget British cinema. Modern cinema is generally regarded as descending from the French Lumière Brothers in 1892, and their show first came to London in 1896. However, the first moving pictures developed on celluloid film were made in Hyde Park in 1889 by William Friese Greene, a British inventor, who patented the process in 1890.

George Albert Smith devised the first color system, Kinemacolor, in 1908.

Alfred Hitchcock's Blackmail (1929) is regarded as the first British sound production.

WWII - During the war some of the greats came out of this era; David Lean's Brief Encounter.

Post-war - After the war ended big budget films started appearing; Michael Powell's The Red Shoes, David Lean's Oliver Twist.

British New Wave (Free Cinema) - A gritty underground movement included Tony Richardson's Look Back in Anger and John Schlesinger's A Kind of Loving.
